In 1991, Jim van Iwaarden established the firm with the idea that a completely flexible workplace would improve the lives of our people and our clients. It’s worked even better than he imagined: Van Iwaarden Associates has grown to be one of the leading actuarial firms in the United States.
Many of us at have worked at other firms with fixed salaries, regimented hours and billable quotas. We think our team, and our clients, deserve better.
We would rather have two people working 40 hours per week than one working 80 hours. Our people are happier, more creative and more fun. We can respond better to our clients’ needs because we aren’t already overloaded with day-to-day work.
